Fun Find: Doll Sized Ice Cream Containers

I was shopping at my local grocery store and found these cute ice cream tubs that were doll-sized.
The ice cream that came inside was delicious!

Here is a size comparison to the normal sized tubs that Blue Bunny sells.
There is even a convenient spoon to eat the ice cream with. It can be used an ice cream scoop for your dolls.

Craft: Painting a Doll-Sized Mailbox

"We need a new mailbox." Saige said to McKenna.
"It's a good thing I bought one the other day when I went to Hobby Lobby."
"Are you going to paint it?" McKenna asked Saige. "I sure am!"

What you'll need for this project:
  • Paper Mache mailbox (I got mine at Hobby Lobby for $1.99)
  • Paint (white and any other colors you want)
  • Paintbrushes
  • Clear coat spray

The first step is to give the whole mailbox a base coat of white paint. It can be a little sloppy if you are going to paint it a different color later. If you are going to leave the inside white, (like I did) then give it a good, even coat.
The next step is to paint the sides and bottom a base color. I chose a lime green color that I mixed. (I used Apple Barrel's Christmas Green and Apple Barrel's Bright Yellow)
Next I painted the two stripes on the front and back of the mailbox. I used a purple that I mixed myself. (I used Apple Barrel's Purple Pansy and Apple Barrel's White)
Now we move on to painting the flag of the mailbox. I chose to paint it red.

This last step is optional. I always like to give things a nice, finished off look using a clear coat spray.
The mailbox is finished, and Saige is very happy!

What I love about this project is that you can go off with it in so many different directions. Personalize it for your dolls by adding stickers, sparkles, or anything else to make it the perfect mailbox for your dolls!

Comparing AG's New Tent to Our Generation's Tent

American Girl has come out with its new releases. This is the new Sunset Sleepover Tent.
At $85.00 for this tent and lantern, I do think it is a little expensive. I bought the Our Generation tent at Target for around $20 last Christmas.
Let's compare the two tents. Here's what the American Girl tent comes with:
  • Tent
  • Lantern that lights up

Here's what the Our Generation tent comes with:
  • Tent that fits two dolls
  • Sleeping bag
  • Lantern that lights up
  • Roasting stick with a marshmallow and a hot dog that come off
  • Coffee pot
  • Cup
  • Plate

Wow! American Girl is asking $85.00 for only two items. I'm not sure how many dolls the tent from AG can fit. I am guessing possibly two.
Now the Our Generation tent is on clearance for $16.99 and is currently unavailable online. To read more about the Our Generation tent, click here.

In conclusion, I think the Our Generation tent is a better deal than American Girl's New Tent Set. What do you think?
